The goal of the Guidance Department at La Vista/La Sierra High School is to help students find academic success. No high school decisions are more important than the courses of study the student chooses to follow. La Vista/La Sierra has an excellent staff of counselors available to work with students and parents in determining the breadth and depth of their four-year program.
The La Vista/La Sierra Guidance department employs a case carrier model. Every student is assigned a counselor who will follow that student throughout the student's high school career. Students are assigned a counselor alphabetically by last name. Our counselors may meet with each student and/or parent/guardian during a scheduled appointment or Parent Night. If you ever want an individual appointment with your student's counselor, you can call or email them directly to schedule one. Over the four years, counselors will help the student develop and follow an academic plan (reviewing grades, attendance, behavior and recommending appropriate interventions) and provide college and career counseling to help the student prepare for his or her post-secondary plans.
All students are also seen by counselors during the quarters/semeters. At this time, the student's transcript is again reviewed. Suggestions will be made regarding course selection as it pertains to high school graduation and/or college requirements.
As you navigate through the Guidance website, you will find information regarding registration, the college application process, resources, important dates and more. If you need further information, please contact the Guidance Office.
